Wake Games at OWC

WakeGames just passed and it was the unofficial kick off to this years season. It was a great oppertunity for my students to get a taste of where they stand for this years tour. If you’ve been following the blogs on the site of Andy and Jordan (Gilligan) you’ve known they have been training hard for this years season. Unfortunately for Gilligan he had an injury the week before the tourny. It is sad since he was completely ready for this event. Andy as well was ready and had his run more than 80% ready.

Andy had an unfortunate early fall that left him cut from advancing. The beatiful thing was they both got to see their competition over the weekend. They did learn that they do have enough to compete with the big boy’s. All this in just 2 seasons of training at Briscoe’s Ride Center.

Some of my other riders did very well. Phil Aslinger got his first podium finish in Junior Pro. Congrats to Phil. Also Zane, JD, Derek and Shane all rode great.

Brian Hutton finished in the top ten last year which gave him seating into the finals.

In total more than half the riders all weekend have trained at Briscoe’s Ride Center at one time or another. It was like old home week and they all made and make me proud to be their coach. My knee is almost healed and I should be able to start riding in a few weeks. I’m looking forward to giving the Pro Veterans division a shot this summer.

Talk to you soon,

Dave

interview with parks

The Parks Bonifay documentary has been under production for the past few months. It looks to be an amazing story on his and Shanes life. I went up for the interview and ended up with about 2 hours worth of stories. There was plenty to Talk about since i’ve known them for the past 16 years. It was a great interview. Look for the release of the documentary in June. After the filming i sat in on a meeting with alliance and some of the current top riders like, Rusty, Phillup, Parks, Shane, Trevor, Benny G., Jimmy Lariche and Danny to name a few. We all talked about the future of wakeboarding and where we think it’s going and what we would like to see. We then hung out and had a late night of old stories. Fun night to say the least.
